The number of registered users already exceeds 2 million as of this Wednesday (May 22), informs the Ministry of Justice and Public Security
More than 50,000 cell phone blocking alerts were registered in the Celular Seguro program until this Wednesday morning (May 22, 2024). Blocks are made when users report lost, stolen or stolen devices.
The program was launched in December 2023, by the federal government, and already has more than 2 million registered users across the country, according to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
HOW TO BLOCK
The user can register their cell phone through the website cellularseguro.mj.gov.br or by application (on the Play Store, for Android, and on the App Store, for iOS/iPhone). Registration must be done with the same login used to access the Gov.br website.
To send the blocking alert, simply press the “emergency button”. The ministry advises that the alert should only be triggered if the user has been the victim of theft or theft of their cell phone or has lost the device.
After registration, the device is locked. The banks and financial institutions participating in the program block bank accounts.
For security reasons, there is no way to reverse the blocking after the alert has been triggered. If the user issues the alert and then recovers the device, they will need to contact the operator, banks and others to regain access. Each company defines its own recovery procedures for devices and in-app accounts.
When registering, the user can indicate a trusted person, who is authorized to carry out the blocking. The victim can request blocking through the website, accessing a computer.
