Finland’s NATO application was unanimously approved in the Turkish parliament after Erdoğan gave the green light.
Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has moved Sweden’s NATO membership application for ratification by the country’s parliament, the news agencies Reuters and AFP report.
According to Reuters, the information came from the presidential office without any other details.
Erdoğan, considered autocratic and capricious, has long delayed the acceptance of Sweden’s NATO membership.
Turkey parliament accepted Finland’s NATO membership at the end of last March by 276-0 votes, after Erdoğan had given the green light for accepting Finland’s membership.
Finland and Sweden simultaneously applied to become members of the military alliance NATO in May 2022.
