The candidate for the Chamber of Deputies in the Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra list was interviewed in “L’Italia ha chose”, in the editorial staff of Secolo XIX
Genoa – Stefano Quaranta, candidate for the Chamber of Deputies in the Green and Left Alliance list as leader in the plurinominal college of Liguriacommented on the result of the elections in the editorial office of de The XIX Century. “It is a very bitter day, but in some respects also taken for granted. Having failed to create a progressive alliance to oppose the center-right, there is regret because I believe that this game could have been played differently”. Quaranta is convinced that an alliance could have worried Giorgia Meloni. “We needed a broad agreement, but instead it was decided out of selfishness on the part of the Pd and M5S who preferred to favor the growth of the single party instead of making a competitive alliance”.
On the results in Genoa and Liguria: “I am happy and proud to have participated in this alliance in Liguria. We have dealt with important issues such as those of ecological transition and climate, if we were to think about a progressive alliance in the coming years we should start with climate change and the fight against poverty. Our hope is that this time we have sown but that in the next we will be able to reap “. On the results of the vote: “I think the most radical proposals have been rewarded, from the Brothers of Italy to the 5-star Movement it is not moderation that has paid, they have paid for the strong proposals. We should have played more attacking, moreover they were the parties that challenged the chosen government the most were awarded “.
What future will there be for the left? “I believe that now we need a radical change. Above all there is a fundamental choice to make: if the Democratic Party thinks it is the party that guarantees conservation and stability or if it wants to be the party of a progressive area capable of defending work , schools and health care. If these priorities exist, we can build a left worthy of the name, otherwise our paths will separate ”
