Buying a limited version of the M5 and then having it converted, that actually makes no sense.
Suppose you want a BMW M5, but one that is faster than all other M5s. Then you can do two things. One: you buy an M5 and bring it to a tuner. Two: you buy an M5 CS. Now there also appears to be a third option: you buy an M5 CS and you bring your car to a tuner.
That is now possible, because tuner G-Power introduces the ‘G5M CS Hurricane RR’. They previously had the G5M Hurricane RR, with 900 hp and 1,050 Nm of torque. Now they have stuck the letters CS in between. The M5 CS served as the starting point for this car.
Does this version have 1,000 horsepower? Well no, that’s a bit disappointing. Although a standard CS has more horsepower than the normal M5, this version has no extra power compared to the ‘normal’ G-Power M5. So you have to settle for 900 hp and 1,050 Nm. That’s just the way it is.
The advantage is that the CS is slightly lighter. BMW has put the M5 on a diet, which means, among other things, that the rear seat has been exchanged for two separate seats. By the way, there are hardcore sedans that go even further, because with the Quadrifoglio GTAm and the Project 8 the rear seats have been completely removed.
In terms of exterior, the M5 CS from G-Power goes a bit more in the direction of those two cars. This hardcore sedan now also has a large spoiler. That was still missing, because BMW itself kept it modest with a carbon spoiler lip.
G-Power has also equipped the M5 CS with a carbon bonnet. The CS already had a CFRP hood, but the hood is now completely made of carbon and equipped with extra air intakes. The beautiful lightweight rims that BMW delivers as standard under the CS have unfortunately been replaced by considerably less beautiful copies of G-Power itself.
There was still room for improvement in terms of sound. A modified exhaust should therefore not be missing. G-Power has equipped the M5 CS with their ‘Deeptone’ exhaust. This provides a rough sound and also contributes to the increase in power.
Our tip: if you really want an M5 with 900 hp, just buy a normal M5 and bring it along G-Power. This saves you about €60,000. Or buy an M5 CS and leave it as standard. 635 hp is also more than sufficient in an M5.
