Over the three days of municipal elections, more than 10,000 DDOS attacks were recorded on the online voting system in Moscow. Vadim Kovalev, head of the Public headquarters for monitoring elections in the capital in 2022, announced this on September 11 during a meeting at the Moscow City Electoral Committee.
“In general, the voting took place in our city without serious incidents affecting the results. For the entire period, we had more than 10 thousand DDoS attacks on our system,” he said.
The system withstood, the attacks did not affect its stability, Kovalev added.
Earlier that day, Ella Pamfilova, chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), said that more than 300 attempts of information attacks on the remote electronic voting system were recorded on September 10 and 11.
Prior to this, on September 8, Pamfilova said that the Internet resources of the CEC were subjected to cyber attacks, coming mainly from unfriendly countries. The protection systems worked properly, she stressed.
In Russia, from September 9 to 11, regional and municipal elections were held. In Moscow, a remote electronic voting system was used. Elections were held in 125 municipalities of the city.
