Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that even in light of the historical tensions between Russia and the West, the Kremlin expects relations to return to normal at some point.
“Every confrontation ends with the easing of tensions, and every crisis ends at the negotiating table,” Peskov said on state television and the Russian Interfax news agency on Sunday.
He said on the TV program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin: “This time it will also be the case.” But it will not happen quickly, but it will happen.
The comments come as Russia continues to grapple with unprecedented Western sanctions since the start of the Russian offensive on Ukraine on February 24.
Even before that, relations between the West and Russia were very tense. Peskov added that Russia was in favor of international harmony based on mutual respect and benefit, and accused the United States.
