The Civil Guard discovered, under a warehouse supposedly used for equine farming, an underground facility with a surface area of some 300 m² that housed the plantations
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia carried out the ‘Under Horse’ operation in Fortuna, an investigation established to pursue drug trafficking, which resulted in the dismantling of a criminal group made up of three people and dedicated to illicit cultivation and subsequent distribution of marijuana.
Members of the Meritorious Citizen Security Prevention opened the operation last March to verify suspicions about facts related to drug trafficking in Fortuna. The first steps of the investigation led the civil guards to a livestock farm in the municipality of Fortuna, a building that apparently housed a greenhouse dedicated to the production of large amounts of marijuana.
Shortly after, the investigators identified three people who were allegedly behind the criminal activity under investigation and the operation continued to determine the exact location of the cannabis plantation. The surveillance devices carried out on the farm made it possible to verify that the criminal group artisanally enabled some underground facilities that housed the marijuana plantations.
Once all the necessary evidence had been obtained, prior judicial authorization, the Civil Guard entered and registered the livestock farm in which an underground facility with a surface area of some 300 m2 was discovered under a warehouse supposedly intended for equine farming. , built with a dozen shipping containers and later buried.
It was an infrastructure that notably made it difficult to detect the plantation from the outside and also made it possible to hide the characteristic odor of this type of crop. The civil guards dismantled the underground greenhouse, which housed 700 cannabis plants and which it is estimated could produce several thousand plants annually. In addition to the cannabis plants, all the objects related to the facts now clarified were also seized, such as lighting, ventilation, irrigation and heating devices.
Finally, the three members of the criminal group were arrested as alleged perpetrators of crimes against public health, for cultivation or preparation of drugs, and electric power fraud, for an illegal connection of the property to the electrical network. The detainees, the drug seized, the effects seized and the proceedings carried out were made available to the Investigating Court of Cieza (Murcia).
