In recent years, Mexican authorities have seized hundreds of bulletproof vests and military equipment that are sold at low prices through social networks and digital platforms.
The most worrying thing is that it has been found that many of these teams belong to the country’s Armed Forces, especially the Navy. Some vests are sold for up to 500 Mexican pesos, that is, about 100 thousand Colombian pesos.

Due to the low price of the elements, sales are made more and more easily. The authorities are concerned about the uncontrolled increase in bulletproof vests in the country.
Rafael Ojeda Durá, the Mexican Secretary of the Navy, announced in the last few hours that they have already begun a large-scale investigation into the demand for these weapons.
“On the side of the Secretary of the Navy, this type of sale of military equipment, helmets, vests, weapons through electronic platforms has been detected and in one way or another we are seeing through naval intelligence where these platforms come from. because many times they are hidden”, explained Ojeda on why they have not disarmed the pages for buying and selling weapons.
In turn, the secretary explained that cases of theft directly in the institution have already been found. He also announced that all the workers who were discovered selling uniforms, weapons and bulletproof vests have already been fired.
“It has happened to us within the institution, we have detected elements that take out, above all, uniforms and sell them to organized crime, but fortunately counterintelligence has detected them and we have discharged them because putting them in jail is very difficult, but leave the institution, if they want to commit crimes, they should do it outside,” said the Secretary of the Navy.

bulletproof vests
This type of artifact must be manufactured with due caution and care. The vests are easily damaged and some are of very poor quality, so they do not resist any type of bullets.
The authorities want to raise awareness among the population and even criminal groups not to buy vests at low prices.
According to the Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, the states in which the most bulletproof vests have been confiscated have been Sinaloa, Michoacán, Tamaulipas and Jalisco.
“These vests must have very characteristic specifications so that they can safeguard the lives of personnel, what we have found does not correspond to those characteristics or plates that are already expired or the material with which this plate is made has its expiration time when it reaches that time the person who uses them is vulnerable because the material does not have enough resistance to stop an impact,” Sandoval said.
According to what was said by the Secretary of National Defense and the Secretary of the Navy, From December 1, 2018 to date, 4,087 bulletproof vests have been seized in Mexico.
