O US President Joe Biden, will travel this Friday (25) to Poland, the country that received the largest number of Ukrainian refugees after the Russian invasion. He will visit the city of Rzeszów, close to the border with Ukraine, the White House said.
Biden will travel direct from Brussels, the first stop on his trip to Europe, and will be greeted by Polish President Andrzej Duda, in the early afternoon. There, he will experience first-hand the humanitarian response to accommodate the growing number of Ukrainian refugees arriving at the border, in line with the presidential agenda.
Next, Biden will meet with members of the US Armed Forces’ 82nd Military Airborne Division, sent to the area to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank.
Rzeszów, with around 200,000 inhabitants, is the main city in southeastern Poland and is just an hour’s drive from the Ukrainian border. After that visit, Biden will fly to the Polish capital Warsaw, where he will continue his schedule on Saturday before returning to Washington.
