Ministry of Health adopts the redistribution of the immunizer to avoid expiry of doses stopped at stations
O Ministry of Health announced that another 154 cities in Brazil will receive doses of the dengue vaccine. The inclusion of new municipalities, from 6 different states, is part of the agency's vaccine redistribution strategy, defined this Wednesday (27.mar.2024).
The cities are part of the following Health Regions:
- Central – ES;
- Betim – MG;
- Uberaba – MG;
- Uberlândia/Araguari – MG;
- Recife PE;
- Apucarana – PR;
- Greater Florianópolis – SC;
- Guarani Aquifer – SP;
- Metropolitan Region of Campinas – SP;
- São José do Rio Preto – SP; It is
- Sao Paulo-SP.
The ministry reported that the redistribution aims to avoid the expiration of 668 thousand doses valid until April 30.
“We cannot let these doses expire. Faced with this, the Ministry came up with a solution: redistribute, within the federated units, that is, within the States, to municipalities that have not yet been covered”, said the director of DPNI (Department of the National Immunization Program), Eder Gatti. Another 523 thousand mature in June. Another 84 thousand in July.
According to Health, the relocation of doses within the States themselves will be detailed in a technical note. The document will be released this Wednesday (27th March) Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District will not be part of the redistribution as they have already been fully covered.
The cities chosen follow the same criteria established in the distribution of the first lots. Are they:
- large municipalities with high transmission in the last 10 years;
- resident population equal to or greater than 100 thousand inhabitants; It is
- high transmission rates in recent months.
The vaccine is intended for people aged 10 to 14, the population that accounts for the highest proportion of hospitalizations due to the disease. The vaccination schedule consists of two doses with an interval of 3 months between them. According to the ministry, the doses are expected to begin being used next week. Distribution, however, depends on the relocation process specific to each location.
