Ukrainian president also wants “tight” sanctions on Russian oil; group vowed to hold Putin responsible for attacks

In a speech at the G7 emergency meeting, the Ukrainian leader said that defense aid is part of the country’s strategy to achieve “peace formula”.
“When Ukraine receives a sufficient number of modern and effective air defense systems, missile attacks – a key element of Russian terror – will cease to work.”said.
The virtual meeting was set to address the recent Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital Kiev. G7 leaders participated: Joe Biden (USA), Olaf Scholz (Germany), Justin Trudeau (Canada), Emmanuel Macron (France), Mario Draghi (Italy), Fumio Kishida (Japan) and Liz Truss (UK).

Describing Russia as a terrorist state, Zelensky also said that stricter sanctions on Russian oil and gas exports were needed. According to the Ukrainian president, the measures “encourage” the Russian government to think about peace and “uselessness of war”.
“We have to respond symmetrically: when Russia attacks the energy sector and the energy stability of our countries, we must block its energy sector with sanctions. Break the stability of Russian oil and gas trading revenues. A hard price cap on Russian oil and gas exports is needed – zero profit for the terrorist state.”said.
Zelensky also said that there is currently no possibility of dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The talks could be with another Russian chief – who will abide by the UN Charter, the basic principles of humanity and Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Or in a different configuration so that the main terrorist does not have the opportunity to influence key decisions through terror.” said.
The Ukrainian leader also accused Russia of drawing Belarus into the conflict. On Monday (Oct 10), Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that Belarus and Russia will form a joint military task force. According to Lukashenko, the measure is in response to the “tension escalation” on the borders between countries.
In the speech, Zelensky stated that the territory of Belarus is already used for attacks against Ukraine. “Now we see a bigger threat. Russia is trying to directly draw Belarus into this war, making a provocation that we are preparing an attack against this country.”said the president.
RUSSIAN RESPONSIBILITY
In a joint statement, the leaders of the G7 countries vowed to hold Putin accountable for the offensive against Ukraine. “Indiscriminate attacks against innocent civilian populations constitute a war crime by Russian forces”, they said. Here’s the intact (31 KB, in English).
G7 countries also reaffirmed their commitment to support Ukraine “for as long as necessary” and to continue to provide financial, humanitarian, military, diplomatic and legal support.
They also said that “never recognize” The “illegal annexation” from Russia from the Ukrainian territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.
“No country wants peace more than Ukraine, whose people have suffered death, displacement and countless atrocities as a result of Russian aggression.”said the group.
