Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova spoke about what poses a threat to American democracy. She wrote about this in her Telegram-channel.
According to her, US democracy is not threatened by “Russian propaganda” and hackers, but by American distrust of political institutions. Zakharova noted that, according to research by the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts and the Center for Public Relations Research at the University of Chicago, it is not “Russian troll factories” or “Chinese cyber troops” that are responsible for spreading disinformation in the United States, but American politicians, IT- corporations and social media users themselves.
Earlier, Microsoft experts reported that more than half of the detected cyber attacks sponsored by states were carried out from Russia. According to them, hackers from Russia were behind 58 percent of such attacks. It is noted that most often Russian hackers “attacked the United States, Ukraine, Great Britain and the European states that are members of NATO.
