A large fire occurred at a chemical waste dump in the village of Siemianowice Śląskie, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. About it reports radio station RMF FM.
“A huge fire occurred at the waste site on Osvobozhdeniye Street in Siemianowice-Slask,” the report noted. Several dozen fire crews were involved in the extinguishing. There is no information about casualties.
In a warning issued by the government’s safety center, residents of the region were urged to stay away from the fire, close their windows and stay indoors if possible.
According to RMF FM, a column of smoke above the landfill is visible at a distance of 30 kilometers, and the fire area is estimated at five thousand square meters. It is believed that the landfill contained about five thousand tons of waste in barrels and plastic waste.
On May 3, a fire occurred at a defense plant in Berlin where air defense systems are produced. There were large quantities of hazardous chemicals in the factory premises.
