Martin leading at Le Mans
The Friday of the French GP opened with Jorge in mind Martin, leader in both FP1 and afternoon practice. In short, the Spaniard sent another message to the official team for a place in the team in 2025, also setting the track record in 1:30.388, thanks also to the slipstream offered by Maverick Viñales. The #89, however, does not want to relax and believes that this weekend all the Ducatis, starting with Bagnaia, Marquez and Bastianini, are close.
Martin’s words
“It’s never easy, but I felt very good in the morning. It’s a track that I like, where I’ve done well in the past“, this is his comment to Sky Sports MotoGP. “I wasn’t doing very well in the trials, we did a test in the direction of ‘Pecco’ and Marc: I didn’t expect it but we took a good step forward; from there the first time attack didn’t go very well but in the end I managed to do 1:30.5, which is a good time, and then thanks to Viñales’ wake I set the record“.
“I like Le Mans, in 2023 I started to do really well here, so I’m optimistic. The pace was really fast: today after 24-25 laps I set the best time I did last year, so we’re doing crazy times. ‘Pecco’ and Enea also have a great pace, all the Ducatis are in good shape and therefore we need to have a good weekend“, he continued.
Finally, the championship leader did not want to comment on the crash in Jerez de la Frontera, which compacted the standings: “Every time you crash you look back at the images to understand what happened, but now we are here in Le Mans: the chapter is closed and there is no need to take it out again“.
