Press for the formalization of the pending agreement between the UTE Transportes de Murcia and the Murcia City Council and, consequently, the updating of the salaries of the workers of the urban public transport service, known as the ‘coloraos’. This is the objective of the mobilization that will be held this Friday, July 7, in the morning at the gates of the Glorieta for two hours.
After an indefinite strike of several days, these workers managed to get the previous municipal executive to sign an agreement with the UTE so that they would pay their arrears and raise their wages, as previously agreed by the workers and the company. It was also achieved that the wage reduction sought by the UTE and the payment of the extraordinary pay for March were paralyzed. The strike was called off in mid-May.
Since then, nothing has been signed between the City Council, which has already changed color, with the absolute majority of the PP, and the urban bus company.
“The delay in signing it means that each month that the debt of salary differences due to the non-application of the increase in the agreement, together with the March pay that has not been received, increases, an issue that can continue ‘in crescendo’ as the date of payment of the extra summer pay is close”, explained the president of the works council, Miguel Cano. And he added that the staff “feels cheated”, which has led them to resume the mobilizations.
The workers received the go-ahead from the Government Delegation last Monday to celebrate this concentration at the entrance to the City Hall, a mobilization that coincides with the meeting of the municipal Government Board.
To questions from this newspaper, sources from the Murcia City Council indicated that “work is being done to reach a solution.”
