Landing and takeoff operations are suspended; stranded passengers await relocation, according to the terminal concessionaire
The company that manages the Salgado Filho Airport, in Porto Alegre (RS), Fraport Brasil, reported this Saturday (May 4, 2024) that landing and takeoff operations remain suspended for an indefinite period. Flights were canceled on Friday (May 3) due to heavy rains hitting the State.
Several areas of the port complex are flooded. The runways, hangars and yard were flooded by water from the Guaíba River, which reached a record high of 5.09 m. To the Power360, Fraport reported that there are passengers stranded there awaiting relocation. The concessionaire, however, did not inform how many people are waiting for transport or when it will take place.
