William Shatner, to who perhaps you will recognize for having played the Captain James T. Kirk in the original series of Star Trek Between 1966 and 1969, he has fulfilled his dream of traveling to space in real life. We say this because the 90-year-old actor already had the opportunity to travel in a space rocket with an entire crew.
Shatner ventured into space on a flight of Blue origin next to the astronauts Audrey Powers, Chris Boshuizen, and Glen de Vries on the morning of this Wednesday around 9AM Mexico time. The journey lasted about 10 minutes from takeoff to landing in Texas, where Jeff Bezos, founder of Blue Origin, welcomed them.
In an interview with CNN, Shatner said the following:
“I am so excited about what just happened. It is something extraordinary. I hope I can maintain this feeling. I do not want to lose her. It is something bigger than your own life. It has nothing to do with the little green men and the blue marble. It has to do with the enormity and how sudden and how fast life and death can be. “
Shatner resumed his role as the Captain Kirk on Star Trek: The Animated Series as well as in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Before the character’s death, the actor played him in six other films in the franchise.
Editor’s note: Personally, I have never been such a fan of Star Trek, the truth is that I have always leaned more towards Star Wars, although I admit that the few films of Star Trek that I have seen yes I have come to like them. Maybe it’s time to catch up on this franchise.
