Marcelo Vieira has not only had a successful career as a defender for Real Madrid -from which he retired this season-, he has also been very happy at a family level. It is not for nothing that the photographs of moments that he lives with his children, Enzo and Liam Alves, and his wife, Clarice Alves, fill his Instagram profile.
But also many of his memories are portrayed on his skin, through various tattoos that fill his back and arms. A Christ the Redeemer, an angel, a Greek god, an indigenous person and even the face of Jesus are just some of the most visible ink marks of the ’12’.
One of the ones that most caught the attention of the Brazilian’s followers was el Volkswagen Beatle car tattoobetter known as ‘beetle’, which is embodied in the right arm.

What is the story behind the Volkswagen tattoo?
In a video posted on Twitter by Real Madrid, the player explained the meaning of the brand. It all goes back to his grandfather, Pedro, who was in charge of taking care of him and taking him to training when he was just a boy with big dreams.
It was in that curious orange Volkswagen Beatle that the man transported his grandson and takes him to train the different teams that forged his career as one of the best in the world.

All the effort invested and the kilometers covered by the ‘fusquinha’, which he called that and which translates as ‘beetle’, bore fruit, because in 2005 Marcelo made his debut at Fluminense Football Club and was later signed for the first division of Real Madrid, a team that was his home until his departure.
In the same interview, the former striker said that he had not had a tattoo for more than two years, but that he wants to get one again very soon.
