At night, street lighting does not work in Kyiv, there is light only in a few houses that are equipped with generators. This was told on November 26 by a columnist who visited the Ukrainian capital Politico Jamie Dettmer.
“A night in Kyiv can feel like an apocalypse when street lights are off and only a few houses equipped with generators provide the only patches of light,” – the article says.
Meanwhile, the streets of Kyiv are deserted at night, with few people going out for fear of rocket fire. During the day, residents still try to visit cafes and other establishments, like bars and restaurants, but much less often than before.
The journalist also noted that Ukrainians are forced to build their daily routine in such a way that when water appears in the taps, they have time to fill a bath and basins.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the restriction of electricity supply in 15 regions of Ukraine. He added that specialists are actively working to restore the energy system, but so far they have not been able to establish a stable supply.
At the same time, as David Arakhamia, head of the faction of the ruling Servant of the People party in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, noted on the same day, 20% of the 530 planned heating points in Kyiv were closed. Some “points of invincibility” lack power generators, internet or water, he stressed.
According to the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko, a quarter of Kyivans continue to be left without electricity. However, he assured that the power engineers are making every effort to return the energy supply to the homes of the residents of the capital.
Prior to that, on November 23, the Ukrainian media reported on missile attacks on targets in a number of regions of the country. Explosions thundered, in particular, in Kyiv. This attack led to the most severe consequences for the Ukrainian energy sector during the entire period of the Russian special operation, media reported.
On October 10, Russian troops began to strike at the objects of military administration, energy and communications of Ukraine. As Russian President Vladimir Putin explained, this was a response to the terrorist actions of the Kyiv regime, in particular on the Crimean bridge.
The special military operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
