The Israeli army estimates that some 100,000 Palestinians have not yet been evacuated to southern Gaza
The Israeli military estimates that some 600,000 Palestinians have been displaced from the northern Gaza Strip to the south and that there are still around 100,000 who “should” leave. This was expressed by the spokesperson for the Armed Forces, Jonathan Cornicus, in a press conference that was posted on his profile on the social network X (formerly Twitter). “The more time passes, the more people will understand that this is the best option if they want to stay safe,” he said.
Israel had ordered the evacuation, announcing that the army “will operate significantly in the city” of Gaza. The UN also confirmed this Monday that at least 600,000 Palestinians, out of a population of 1.1 million in the northern Gaza region, have already left their homes to seek refuge.
