Viitasaari | Onnibus and three other cars crashed: eight were injured, two seriously

Nelostie was heavily congested on both sides of the accident site.

A bus and three other cars crashed into each other on Nelostie in Viitasaari in central Finland on Friday. The emergency center received information about the accident that happened a little to the north of the center of Viitasaari before 5 p.m.

The fire marshal on duty told STT that two people in the car in Turma were seriously injured.

The Onnibus bus had 45 passengers, five of whom were slightly injured. According to the rescue service, one of the other two vehicles was a van, and one of the two people in it received minor injuries.

A bus and the van, according to the rescue service, were driving in a northerly direction and at least one crashed car was coming south.

The fire chief said that the rescue service did not yet have a more detailed picture of the course of events or the possible cause of the collision. STT did not reach the police of Inner Finland in the evening to tell them about the details of the case.

Onnibus managing director Joona Hurmerinta told STT after nine in the evening that the driver of the bus in Turma had been in contact with the management.

“He is in good shape and was able to pass on information to us. Crashes like this are always really unpleasant. Primarily, we focus our thoughts on making sure that everyone involved is okay, both in our bus and in the other cars that were involved,” he said.

According to Hurmerinna, a replacement bus had been delivered to the accident site, to which the passengers were directed. Another driver had also been sent to the place.

“The driver’s shift will no longer continue if such a situation arises. The car will be taken to the repair shop, thoroughly checked, the necessary repairs will be made and it will be back on the road in time. But it is still just iron.”

According to Hurmerinna, at least their driver had called the emergency center after the accident.

Four times Traffic was badly congested in the Viitasaari region after the accident.

At first, traffic on the highway was completely shut down, and then traffic was directed past the accident site along one lane, alternating in both directions.

According to the fire chief, the crash happened at a point where there was no quick detour. However, according to the police, traffic was directed to travel further via road 69.

According to the fire chief, the crash site is located on a fairly straight stretch of road about one hundred meters north of the Muikunlahdentie intersection.
