The Venezuelan dictatorship congratulated Belarus – which celebrated the 79th anniversary of its independence on Monday (3) – and took the opportunity to ratify the commitment to work for the “mutual objectives” of the two countries, which maintain cooperation agreements in various areas.
On Twitter, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Venezuelan regime, Yván Gil, congratulated the dictatorship of Alexander Lukashenko, who has been in power since 1994, and the people of Belarus on the date that marks the end of the Nazi occupation in 1944. In 1990 , Belarus also declared itself independent from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).
“We celebrate the sovereignty of the Belarusian people and ratify our bonds of friendship and the mutual goals of achieving a world of justice and peace,” said the Venezuelan foreign minister on the social network.
Venezuela and Belarus have maintained diplomatic relations for 26 years, which have intensified since 2006, when the embassies in Minsk and Caracas were inaugurated.
According to the so-called “Bolivarian Revolution”, the two nations maintain a “bilateral strategic and cooperative relationship” in the industrial sector, oil and house construction, among others.
In December 2021, representatives of the two governments signed five cooperation documents in Caracas in the areas of security, industry, mining, transport, housing, food, agriculture and petrochemicals.
