The United Nations (UN) will expand its presence in Ukraine, said UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths, writes TASS.
The representative of the international organization clarified that now the UN is moving its employees in Kiev to safe places. Griffiths clarified that the UN is not leaving Ukraine. “The UN is committed to expanding our presence, we are expanding our presence in Ukraine,” Griffiths revealed work plans.
According to him, specialists need to ensure unhindered and safe access to all conflict-affected regions of Ukraine to provide assistance.
Earlier, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights announced the number of those killed and injured as a result of shelling and air strikes in Ukraine. The experts received reports of at least 127 civilian casualties.
The special operation to protect Donbass began on Thursday, February 24. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin during an address to the Russians. The head of state also turned to external forces that might try to pose a threat to Russia. The President promised that Moscow’s response would be immediate.
