The UGT and CCOO unions have decided to postpone the strike in road passenger transport, which began on October 28 and whose next day was scheduled for this Monday, November 11, given the serious social, personal and material situation generated by the floods. in the province of Valencia and in other autonomous communities.
UGT has explained in a statement that “the current context makes any mobilization initiative is incompatible union in an essential sector such as transport”, which is why it postpones the planned strike days until a normal situation is restored in the affected areas.
For its part, CCOO has considered that “the serious consequences” that DANA has had for the population, mobility and infrastructure, “road passenger transport services by bus and self-propelled cranes are essential at this time.”
The strike, to demand early retirement for professional drivers, I was going to continue the days November 11, 28 and 29; December 5 and 9; and, as of the 23rd of that month, it could become indefinite.
The decision to postpone all planned mobilizations “is made in solidarity with the people affected by DANA in different autonomous communities, with special impact on the Valencian Community“, they have specified.
Right now, citizens and the State “need to have all possible resources for mobility and logistics“, so “it would be irresponsible to maintain a strike in the current context,” added UGT.
Both unions called, together with USO and the employers’ associations, CEOE, Cepyme and ATA, a 10-minute strike last Friday, November 8 at 12:00 p.m. in all public and private companies to express support and condolences to all those affected by this catastrophe and their families.
