Two of the three Tunisian prisoners who escaped from the Casal del Marmo juvenile prison were captured this afternoon. They are both 17 years old. The police of the L’Aquila police headquarters he arrested one of the fugitives, Mohamed R. at the L’Aquila station, which he had reached from Rome by train. The prisoner had been placed in the Casal del Marmo penal institution for crimes committed in L’Aquila.. A second escapee was also found, this one at Rome’s Termini station. The minor was intercepted by the police of the Viminale police station. He is now in the Polfer offices for photo-signalling.
The escape of the three occurred shortly after 5:30 pm yesterday, during a riot that broke out inside the penitentiary between young inmates. Already escaped, taking advantage of moments of tension inside the corridors and cells they managed to escape by using a metal locker to climb over the perimeter wall.
During the escape, one of them was injured in the foot, but limping, he still managed to escape. Shortly after one of the three wanted men was spotted in a supermarket in the Via Trionfale area where he had tried to steal some food, but there too he had managed to escape.
Both the riots that broke out in the penitentiary and the daring escape were filmed by the video surveillance cameras of the penal institution and are currently being examined by the juvenile prosecutor’s office and the ordinary prosecutor’s office in Piazzale Clodio.
“Now we need the third, to close the circle,” said Gennarino De Fazio, general secretary of Uilpa Polizia Penitenziaria. It is a 15-year-old boy.
A note reads: «For a number of reasons, we did not and do not have many doubts that yesterday’s fugitives, all minors, will be recaptured and taken back to prison in a short time. Usually These kids do not have any external support and often it is their own family members who push them to turn themselves in.. This, however, does not erase the flaws in the system which, on the contrary, are highlighted even more by the certification that these are not organized escapes. In short, it is enough to decide extemporaneously and one can escape with evident ease.
It would then be necessary ask yourself how much tax evasion costs, even in terms of research costs and everything that comes with it. Sums that, evidently, would be more profitable to invest in policies to strengthen security, starting from Penitentiary Police staff missing 18 thousand units», the note adds.
