The line of the investigating magistrate Donatella Banci Bonamici who in May had not validated the stops was defeated
Turin – House arrest for Luigi Nerini, manager of the Mottarone cable car, and for the operating manager Enrico Perocchio. The Turin Review Court this was the opinion on the appeal filed in June by the prosecutor of Verbania Olimpia Bossi. According to the judges, in the days immediately following the tragedy of 23 May when 14 people lost their lives “there was a need for precautionary measures for Luigi Nerini, the administrator of the concessionaire company of the plant and for the engineer Enrico Perocchio, the army director in charge security. Reasons that have not disappeared in recent months ».
The Turin judges thus decided on house arrest, thus disavowing what was ordered on May 29 by the Verbania magistrate Donatella Banci Buonamici. At the conclusion of the interrogations under guarantee in prison – the two with Gabriele Tadini, head of the cable car service had been detained – the GIP had in fact released Nerini and Perocchio, considering the complaints of the investigators – prosecutor and carabinieri – lacking clues.
He had ordered the house arrest only for Tadini because he was guilty of having blocked the emergency brake on the crashed cabin causing the death of 14 passengers. The judges of the Review in an ordinance of 70 pages instead they recognize that there were reasons to apply measures of the restriction of freedoms also for Nerini and Perocchio. Their lawyers now have ten days to appeal to the Supreme Court.
