Fuji TV reported that a car crashed into a barrier near the Israeli embassy in Tokyo on Thursday, noting that a man was immediately arrested.
Reports indicated that the man who was arrested was in his fifties.
The television said that a security man was injured.
While an embassy official could not immediately be reached for comment when contacted by Reuters, a Tokyo Metropolitan Police spokesperson said they were unable to comment at this time.
Footage broadcast by Japanese Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) showed a small black car suffering damage to its headlights and license plate as it appeared to have collided with the barrier on the side of the street.
The nearby road was littered with cracked parts of the broken down car.
The footage showed that the car’s license plate was from Tama, west of Tokyo.
