Minister of the STF Dias Toffoli

SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Federal Supreme Court Minister Dias Toffoli on Friday ruled out the possibility of a coup d’état in Brazil with the support of the Armed Forces, because he believes that the military assess the damage that such a move would bring to the barracks itself. .
Toffoli said he answered the question “will there be a coup?” made by foreign journalists before his speech at an event in São Paulo. The questions arise in the wake of repeated attacks, without evidence, by president and reelection candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on the electoral system, with the endorsement of part of the military leadership.
The statement by the Minister of the Supreme was given at a seminar on the balance between the Powers promoted by Esfera Brasil. Also participating were the presidents of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), and the minister of the Civil House, Ciro Nogueira.
