Chelsea he is already living a new stage, after on Thursday he announced to the English Graham Potter as new coach, replacing the sacked Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.
Potter accepted a five-year deal with the London outfit, who praised his “progressive football and innovative coaching”. The 47-year-old coach has earned widespread admiration for his work at Brighton. After a start at modest Swedish club Östersunds FK, Potter joined Swansea and later Brighton.
Also intended as England manager, Potter faces the most serious test of his career, coming to the volatile situation at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel’s relationship with his players had deteriorated, and tension with the new owners was in the air. Not surprisingly, Chelsea’s statement highlights Potter’s “collaborative and forward-looking approach”.
Tuchel was sacked on Wednesday, hours after a shock 1-0 loss on his Champions League debut against Dinamo Zagreb. The German, who was in charge for less than 20 months, leaves the club in a disappointing sixth position in the Premier League, having won just three of the first six matches, but with a Champions League and a Club World Cup to come. his credit
Thomas Tuchel’s relief on Twitter
The German broke his silence on Sunday, five days after his dismissal, saying he was “devastated”.
“This is one of the most difficult statements I’ve ever had to write, and one I hoped I wouldn’t have to do for many years. I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end,” Tuchel wrote in one of three consecutive posts from him on his Twitter account.

“This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally. Many thanks to all the staff, players and fans for making me feel welcome from the start.”
“The pride and joy I felt in helping the team win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever. I feel honored to have been part of the history of this club and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart”, concluded Tuchel.
Chelsea will face Austrian Salzburg on Wednesday in their second match in the Champions League, and on Sunday they will host Liverpool, which is also in a crisis of results, in the Premier League.
