Russian doctors saved a newborn with a rare pathology. The corresponding material is published by the portal “Vostok Media”.
It is known that the child was born in a hospital in Spassk-Dalniy, where doctors did not find any pathologies in him. However, after a few minutes, the doctors realized that the newborn was in serious condition and a few hours later an air ambulance helicopter arrived to pick him up. The patient on artificial ventilation was urgently taken to the intensive care unit of the Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital.
Doctors promptly examined the boy and diagnosed him with cardiopulmonary pathology due to a severe congenital malformation of a diaphragmatic hernia. It turned out that the child’s abdominal organs were located in the chest, displacing the baby’s heart and squeezing the lungs.

Doctors performed surgery on the newborn in an open intensive care system, since transferring the patient to a specialized room was too risky. The surgical intervention was successful and the boy was subsequently nursed in intensive care.
At first, the little patient could not breathe on his own, but eventually the lungs, compressed during the entire intrauterine development, were completely restored. Now he is being prepared for discharge.
In April, a Russian woman gave birth to quadruplets and surprised doctors. The chief physician of the Yaroslavl Perinatal Center, Sergei Kirdyanov, said that this is an amazing and rare case, since the parents did not resort to the IVF procedure.
