Judgments|A middle-aged woman hit a child because the woman’s child and the victim got angry during the water war.
Woman abused an 8-year-old child and the mother holding the baby in her arms at the playground.
The assaults took place in June 2020 at a playground in Herttoniemenranta.
The victimized boy had been playing with water guns with his friends when water got into the child’s eye. The child therefore said that he had thrown the water gun so that it had hit the offspring of the woman who had committed the abuse.
From here the nervous woman had hit the child on the head with her cap and then with her fist on the chest. The woman had also shouted at the child.
When the child’s mother had noticed the situation, she had gone to the duo. The child’s mother had a baby in her arms.
The mother had forbidden the woman to shout at her child and went to stand in front of her child to protect him. At this point, the woman had pushed the child’s mother so that she had fallen to the ground. Mother got bruises on her knees.
Woman denied the abuse. He said that the child became enraged and shot a woman with a water gun. According to the woman, the boy’s mother had not intervened in her child’s behavior.
According to the witness, the woman had shouted loudly, ugly and using strong words. On the other hand, the child’s mother was not aggressive, according to the witness.
District court found the victims’ accounts convincing and reliable.
The Helsinki district court sentenced a woman born in 1978 to a 70-day fine for two counts of assault.
The woman was ordered to pay the child 150 euros for pain and suffering and the child’s mother 200 euros.
The woman appealed the verdict to the Court of Appeal. The Helsinki Court of Appeal did not grant the woman permission for further proceedings, so the district court’s verdict remains in effect.
