The last national team break in 2021 has come to an end, Carlo Ancelotti is recovering his internationals and some return happy and with their homework done while others have not yet secured a pass to the World Cup and will have to play it in the next date.
Up to 12 Real Madrid players were called up in the break. Let’s see how each of them fared.
The Austrian team will play the World Cup play-offs via the UEFA Nations League. Alaba played the full match against Israel where the Austrians took the victory and was called off for the second match against Moldova.
Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard started the victory over Estonia (3-1) in the World Cup qualifier. The goalkeeper played the 90 minutes while the striker left replaced in the 62nd. For the second game against Wales both were called off by coach Roberto Martínez.
Brazil continues to be the team with the most Madridistas, three. Casemiro played the 90 minutes in the first match against Colombia but saw a yellow card that carried a penalty and was called off by Tite for the second match. Vinicius came out in the second half of the victory against Colombia (1-0) and played the 90 minutes against Argentina (0-0). And Militao played the full game against the albiceleste.
Luka Modric’s Croatia will be in Qatar in 2022. The midfielder played 53 minutes in the win against Malta (1-7), a match in which Modric scored a goal and gave an assist. In the victory against Russia (1-0) he played the 90 minutes.
Real Madrid once again had representation in the Spanish team with the call of Dani Carvajal. The full-back played the 90 minutes in the victory against Greece (0-1) and saw from the bench the victory against Sweden (1-0) where La Roja qualified for the World Cup.
The French team had a placid break. Les bleus beat Kazakhstan 8-0 with Benzema starting and playing 70 minutes in which he scored a double. In the second game against Finland, which also ended with a French victory (0-2), he jumped onto the pitch in the 55th minute and opened the scoring in the 65th.
Eduardo Camavinga is a fixture in the U21 team. The young Frenchman played the 90 minutes in the qualifying match for the European Championship against Armenia, which ended with a French victory (7-0) and against North Macedonia he spent 85 minutes on the field.
Garth Bale has been the negative note of Madrid in this break. The winger reappeared with his team after two months injured, started in the victory against Belarus (5-1) and was substituted at half-time. In the draw against Belgium (1-1) he did not play and has returned to Madrid injured in the calf.
Luka Jovic started in the friendly that Serbia played against Qatar and won the Europeans 4-0. The forward spent 61 minutes on the field and scored the second goal for his team. Against Portugal he jumped onto the pitch in the 87th minute and although he did not contribute to the victory, his team will be in the World Cup after defeating the Portuguese.
