State Duma deputy Kartapolov said that there is no need for mobilization in Russia
The head of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, in a conversation with Lenta.ru, said that there is no need for a new mobilization in Russia. He called a document that appeared on the network, which claimed that the country was preparing a call for service of 200 thousand Russians, he called fake.
“There is no need for mobilization. We are actively recruiting for contracts. The Ministry of Defense performs this task. More than 200 thousand people have already been recruited. And the work is very active. So don’t worry,” Kartapolov said.
Earlier, an order allegedly on behalf of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was circulated in Telegram channels, which reported on “additional conscription of citizens for military service for mobilization.”
According to the published document, “representatives of the military commissars” supposedly have to organize the call of 200,000 citizens within the framework of mobilization no later than November 1, 2023.
The Russian authorities have previously denied fakes about the preparation of a new wave of mobilization. “There is no smell of any new mobilization,” said Andrey Kartapolov, head of the State Duma Defense Committee. So he commented on the bill on criminal punishment for draft dodgers.
