There is no brand that fits better with electric propulsion than Rolls-Royce. For 120 years they worked hard to make their cars as smooth and smooth as possible to drive. From now on, that hard work becomes a lot easier. Within a year, the first customers will receive the quietest Rolls-Royce ever: the electric Rolls-Royce Specter.
We asked Rolls-Royce boss Torsten Müller-Ötvös why it took so long for RR to make the logical move to electric. He answers emphatically. “The customers have always said: it has to be a Rolls-Royce first, then an electric car.” Despite the fact that more and more RR customers are added, there are still not too many to approach them personally. That is why Müller-Ötvös asked the select group of customers for their opinion on electric cars.
The customers are ready
‘If you compare today’s customers with the customers of the past, things have changed a lot. On average they have [de klanten van nu red.] seven cars and many of them already have electric cars. The feedback on electric propulsion is generally very positive,” says Müller-Ötvös. This Rolls-Royce Specter does not need to persuade its new owners to switch from the pump to the charging cable.
In addition, it is also exactly what we had hoped for: a coupé. For a moment we were afraid that Rolls-Royce would also immediately join the EV SUV acceleration. “The Specter is as important to us as the Silver Ghost. This is the beginning of a new era for Rolls-Royce,” said the Rolls-Royce boss. They kick off that era with the replacement of the Phantom coupe that last appeared in 2016.
Specifications of the Rolls-Royce Spectre
The Specter is an XL Rolls Royce. It has a dry weight of 2,975 kg and the 23-inch wheels make it look even bigger. Still, the Specter has a 0-100 time of 4.5 seconds. He does this thanks to 593 hp and 900 Nm of torque in power. According to the WLTP you will get 515 kilometers with him. A Rolls-Royce V12 on a single tank has never come that far. “Nobody has ever asked us to make a bigger petrol tank,” Müller-Ötvös says.
Above all, the Rolls-Royce Specter is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship to look at, both outside and inside. So is the grille, the wildest we’ve ever seen on an RR. This is also possible because it is largely closed because it does not have to cool a V12 engine. In terms of price, the Rolls-Royce Specter is ‘between the Cullinan and Phantom’. That means that the Specter in the Netherlands will go for about half a million euros.
