Sergei Savelyev, who handed over video recordings of torture over prisoners in Russian colonies to human rights defenders, was put on the wanted list because of the secrecy stamp over the recordings and violation of the rules for release from prison. This reason named RT sources in law enforcement agencies.
According to them, the transfer of video is not espionage or treason, but the files were classified as information for official use and were classified as classified. At the same time, he did not transfer the video to human rights defenders, but sold it for two thousand dollars, the source added.
In addition, according to them, Savelyev violated the rules of parole. Earlier, according to RT, he was serving time for selling drugs, and in 2017 he was in tuberculosis hospital No. 1 of the Saratov Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), where torture took place.
The case against Savelyev was initiated in early October, the source added.
Earlier on October 23, it became known that the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs had put Saveliev on the federal wanted list, who had handed over to human rights activists a video of torture of prisoners in hospital No. 1 of the Saratov Federal Penitentiary Service, in connection with the criminal case initiated against him.
On October 5, the first video with the rape of prisoners in the hospital of the Saratov Federal Penitentiary Service appeared on the network, then others appeared. According to human rights activist Vladimir Osechkin, 40 gigabytes of video of the torture of prisoners were filmed by FSIN officers on official video recorders.
