The Portuguese Prosecutor’s Office investigates the municipal deputy of the Lisbon Assembly Nuno Pardal Ribeiro, of the Chega Ultra -right party, for allegedly having sex with a minor in exchange for money in 2023.
The Public Ministry explained in a statement on Thursday that investigates two formal suspects (‘argued’ in Portuguese, prior to the accusation), 76 and 54 years old, for the crime of “appeal to the prostitution of aggravated minors.”
One of the investigated is suspicious of the practice “of a crime of consummate”, while the second is because of the practice of two crimes, “one in consummate and the other by attempt.”
Although the statement does not cite any name or position, the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to Efe the relationship of this investigation with Deputy Nuno Pardal.
“They knew I was 15 years old”
According to the information of the Public Ministry, the victim, who was 15 years old at the time, met those investigated through the Grindr application and agreed to meeting points.
The child, who previously informed them of his age, had sex with one on July 12 and with the other the next day.
The second suspect tried to contact the boy again in September of that same year to agree on a reunion that was not carried out.
“The formal suspects knew that the assistant was 15 years old, always acted freely, voluntarily and consciously, knowing that his conduct was prohibited and penalized by the criminal law,” added the Public Ministry.
In the accusation it has been required that both investigated are prohibited from exercising their profession and public and private activities whose exercise implies regular contact with minors.
The weekly Expressothat the news advanced this Thursday, he said that the case was denounced to the Portuguese Police by the adolescent’s parents after they discovered the messages on his phone.
Questioned by the same medium, Nuno Pardal did not denied the encounter with the child, although he said he did not know his age.
On the other hand, the politician reported in statements to the newspaper Observer that he is focused on “demonstrating innocence”, although being a “very delicate” situation, he has decided to give up his mandate as a deputy.
