Dubai (Etihad)
His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Museum of the Future, in a speech during the celebration, highlighted the similarities between the thought and philosophy of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Museum of the Future, through seven main points. His Excellency said, “The Museum of the Future with its constantly renewed and evolving content and concept It reflects the renewed thinking and visions of Mohammed bin Rashid that keep pace with changes and are distinguished by the renewal of plans, the renewal of ideas and the renewal of tools.”
His Excellency pointed out that “this new civilized edifice resembles the thought and philosophy of Mohammed bin Rashid… Rather, it embodies this thought… It embodies many of the concepts we have learned over the years… It also translates His Highness’ belief that ideas are what make the future and they drive the locomotive of development.”
The Museum of the Future is an exceptional cultural landmark that constitutes a qualitative addition to the most important international landmarks and icons. It is also considered an unparalleled architectural masterpiece thanks to its engineering design with a pioneering character ahead of its time, to formulate from now on the concept of future architecture and make its legacy, and befitting its design with what it represents and what it embodies of scientific and cognitive value And intellectual, and in a manner that reflects its role as a platform that brings together the most important and prominent minds, experiences and future foresights to prepare for the future environment, and to contribute to monitoring the most important developments, challenges and dilemmas that humanity will face in the next fifty years, and to find unconventional solutions to them.
The museum will also be an incubator for the genius and talents of scientists, thinkers and researchers, and the largest laboratory of its kind for bold ideas and perceptions, from which scientific and knowledge initiatives and projects will be launched to contribute to accelerating scientific development in various fields.
From an architectural perspective, the Museum is an engineering marvel, the most fluid building in the world; As there are no sharp corners in its external structure, it transcends all the limits of the ordinary in architecture, innovating new tools and developing innovative technical approaches in design, implementation and construction.
Road map for Dubai’s future
The Museum of the Future will present a clear road map for the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE, through which you can anticipate the future of all vital sectors and benefit from future economic, developmental, scientific and humanitarian opportunities.
In addition, the Museum of the Future will attract the best international ideas and generate new concepts for Dubai, making it ahead of others. The museum will also be the thinking mind and the most comprehensive and innovative knowledge and scientific platform of its kind that brings together the best talents and creative minds to enrich dialogue and discussion and generate proposals and perceptions to consolidate excellence in various sectors.
Architectural marvel
The Museum of the Future is an engineering miracle, combining the best of creative human thought, the finest architecture and the latest digital technology, including virtual reality technologies, augmented reality and artificial intelligence applications. The Museum of the Future consists of three main elements: the hill on which the building rises, the design of the external building, and the internal content of the museum, within an integrated conceptual approach, the three elements in total constitute the architectural, artistic, cognitive and philosophical value of the iconic building.
The height of the museum is 77 meters, without any columns or pillars inside, which makes it the most fluid building in the world. The museum is considered one of the most complex architectural projects in the world, as it is classified in the “engineering miracle” category. It was implemented by adopting the “parametric design” model, which is a three-dimensional technology based on advanced technical design that works by entering data and parameters for the building to be designed. , relying on the engineering foundations known as algorithms, which are a considered number of sequential and logical mathematical steps that allow addressing specific variables that lead to solving specific problems or addressing any modifications or challenges that arise during design or implementation, within a conceptual approach to construction that combines architecture, sculpture and mathematics. Parametric design, which is used on a limited scale in modern architecture as it requires highly advanced architectural techniques and tools, is referred to as “design modeling” or modular design, or variable design as it requires superior technical flexibility based on a database that is updated throughout the design and construction stages.
The parametric model was also used to study and design the movement of people in the building.
The facade of the museum consists of 1024 exterior pieces spread over an area of 17,600 square meters, and it is made of stainless steel, and the facade panels were produced using automated robotic arms in a precedent in the region. Each panel consisted of 4 layers, and the production of each panel took 16 process steps. Each panel was installed and installed separately, as the installation period for the external facade lasted more than 18 months.
In the basis of its design, the Museum of the Future reflects digital technology through the 1024 panels that cover its facade, as the number of these panels represents a basic unit of the digital information storage system in the memory of computers, which is a kilobyte, which is equal to 1024 bytes, or 1024 symbols or letters.
The museum is linked by two bridges, the first extends to the Emirates Towers with a length of 69 meters, and the second connects it to the Emirates Towers metro station with a length of 212 meters. The museum is fed with 4,000 megawatts of electricity that is produced through solar energy, through solar panels connected to the museum.
The facade of the Museum of the Future is illuminated by 14,000 meters of light lines, decorated with inspirational quotes written in Arabic by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Arabic calligraphy, making it the only building in the world that relies on “calligraphy” (the art of calligraphy) on its entire facade.
cognitive movement
The Museum of the Future seeks to lead the knowledge movement in the Arab world by playing a vital role in the region, as the largest pool of scientific and cognitive brains and a center for the latest advanced scientific and technological innovations.
The museum will also create a platform that links development, economic and societal initiatives with the latest scientific, knowledge and technical discoveries from a forward-looking perspective, by launching, incubating and sponsoring many projects and initiatives under the museum’s umbrella, in a way that contributes to serving the peoples and societies of the Arab world and advancing the developmental process in the region.
At the level of the international scientific community, the Museum of the Future will contribute to creating a global intellectual and knowledge movement on the investigation and foresight of future changes and trends in various scientific, economic, developmental and humanitarian fields, in addition to exploiting opportunities to benefit from these changes for the benefit of humanity, deepening the foundations of knowledge cooperation and facilitating channels Exchanging experiences and data and achieving justice in sharing future scientific and knowledge output, in addition to investing in technical and knowledge development to contribute to addressing global crises.
