Santa Fe New Mexican published on Friday, October 22, on page in Twitter A photograph of American actor Alec Baldwin after an incident on set in New Mexico that killed director of photography Galina Hutchins and severely injured director Joel Sousa.
The picture was taken after the actor was questioned at the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office. The publication assures that Baldwin is shocked by what happened.
The day before, while filming a scene for the film Rust in New Mexico, Alec Baldwin fired a pistol. It was assumed that the weapon was loaded with blank cartridges. However, the fragments touched the operator and the director. Hutchins was seriously injured and was taken by helicopter to the local trauma center, where she died. The director of the film, Sousa, was hospitalized in serious condition with an injury to his collarbone. No charges were brought against Baldwin.
The incident took place at Bonanza Creek Ranch, which has been used by filmmakers in the past to film Westerns, including 3:10 AM Yuma and Cowboys vs. Aliens. A spokesman for the film production company said the “accident” was due to the misfire of a fake pistol with blank cartridges. Filming has been suspended. Baldwin was questioned but never charged.
It is known that the deceased Galina Hutchins was a native of the Ukrainian SSR and grew up on a Soviet military base beyond the Arctic Circle.
