Izvestia: the seventh package of EU sanctions will include a review of all previous restrictions
With the help of the seventh package of sanctions, the European Union plans to eliminate loopholes in violation of already adopted restrictions. About it write “News”.
Slovak MEP Milan Ugrik told the publication that the new measures are likely to be aimed at reviewing all previous sanctions. At the same time, he added, these loopholes have not yet been identified.
According to him, as part of the discussion on sanctions, the EU countries are also discussing mechanisms for limiting prices for Russian oil. However, he believes that it is unlikely that a consensus will be reached on this issue. In addition, the EU is considering a ban on the purchase of Russian gold.
On July 15, American economist Steve Hanke pointed out that the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West actually had a much worse impact on Europe and turned into a political graveyard. “They do not work and never have worked,” the expert said. He expressed the opinion that the sanctions turned out to be a suicidal act for the European economies. In addition, as a result of such a policy, the positions of French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have weakened, Hanke said.
On July 14, the United States eased part of the sanctions against Russia. The US Treasury has allowed certain transactions with Moscow relating to transactions related to fertilizers, food, seeds, medicines and medical equipment.
