The headquarters of the Alternative for Germany party in Hannover was searched
In Germany, a search was carried out at the headquarters of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Hanover after the immunity of two deputies was revoked. This is reported by Welt.
“According to AfD leader Frank Rink, charges are being brought against his deputy Ansgar Schledde. Before the raid, the Lower Saxony state parliament lifted the immunity of two unnamed deputies, opening the way for criminal investigations,” the publication notes.
It is believed that party members are facing charges of financial fraud stemming from contributions to the party fund.
Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, accused the Alternative for Germany party of collaborating with Russia. She also added that the party is allegedly involved in spreading Russian propaganda.
