France begins the final stretch for the first round of the presidential elections on April 10. President Emmanuel Macron, the favorite in the polls, has shown a slight decrease in the percentage of voting intentions. Many believe that this reduction is due to the fact that as president, he has had to be more aware of European affairs and the war in Ukraine, which would have reduced his visibility among the French.
The second in the polls is Marine LePen, veteran in the world of French politics and leader of the extreme right who is in his third attempt to reach the Elysee. The leader of the Agrupación Nacional party has carried out a slightly more discreet campaign compared to the previous one; this time she tries to show herself as a more conventional and moderate politician.
Another familiar face on the French political scene is Jean-Luc Mélenchon, perhaps the strongest figure of the French left, which is scattered for these elections. Mélenchon is recognized for his controversial and energetic speeches against globalization and political elites and his statements in which he attacks the programs of his two opponents.
With an anti-Islamic and anti-immigration speech, the former journalist and television commentator, Eric Zemmour, he has won supporters from Le Pen and from the more firmly established right.
In total, there are 12 candidates, eight men and four women, who compete in this first round, which is less exciting than previous elections, but which will determine who will face each other in the second round two weeks later.
The final stretch of the presidential elections in France, where the polls begin to adjust and any percentage is vital, is the topic that we address together with our guests:

– Aymeric Durez, international analyst and professor of International Relations at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
