A road accident shook traffic in the Historic Center of Mexico City this morning, when a cargo van, loaded with delicious tamales and atole, was attacked in the Lázaro Cárdenas Central Axis.
The collision took place while the truck was trying to join the flow of traffic from Doctor Lavista Street, at which time another vehicle, allegedly operating at high speed and under the influence of alcohol, hit hercausing it to overturn in the middle of the road and lose all its merchandise.
‘Drunk’ young man shocked them
The first investigations suggest that the driver of the private vehicle, identified as 28-year-old Tello “C” may have been driving under the influencea circumstance that will be investigated by the corresponding authorities.
Injured tamale sellers; two older adults
Meanwhile, three people suffered minor injuries in the incident, but fortunately they did not need hospital care. It was about:
•Driver: Oscar “H, 45 years old (Policocontundido)
•María Asunción “H”, 46 years old (second degree burn on the right shoulder)
•Dolores “M”, 67 years old (first degree burns)
•Esteban “H”, 68 years old (multiple concussions)
They lost their merchandise and the day’s sale
The impact left the load of tamales and atole scattered on the asphalt, which required the intervention of the Heroic Fire Department and Civil Protection personnel to clean the area.
The priority was to remove the overturned truck and then proceed with cleaning the pavement, which was splashed with remains of the delicious food that would most likely be the sale of the day and start of the week for the affected people.
The repercussions of the accident were not limited to the scene of the event. Traffic was affected on the route to Fray Servando, towards the Center of Mexico City, generating congestion on the roads. Authorities issued warnings to drivers to drive with caution in the affected area.
