This Friday we are going to talk about one of the most famous jerseys in American sports. Bundle up, we’re going to talk about ice hockey and the legendary uniform of the New York Rangers.
The Rangers, one of the classic NHL teams (they belong to the so-called Original Sixfounders of the competition) began to play with light blue jerseys, but in 1929 they changed to the current blue, called Broadway Blue. Already back then, when they debuted, they debuted their classic design, for which the club is best known: with the letters arranged diagonally, from left to right.
In 1946 they began to put the team name, ‘Rangers’, in letters arranged in an arc over each player’s number, but the following season The classic design is back.
In 1956 the NHL required the existence of alternative uniforms and the white uniform was released, which followed the same scheme.
These uniforms, accompanied by a laced collar, have always been worn except for brief periods. For example, between 1976 and 1978 the crest bore the club’s logo, while between 1978 and 1987 it was used the name of the city of New York.
Starting in 1996, alternative uniforms began to be introduced, in navy blue, with decorations such as the face of the Statue of Liberty or again the club logo.
