As the forecasts anticipated, the Italian Filippo Ganna, from Ineos, won the crown of the first stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico, imposing a time of 15 minutes and 17 seconds.
The ‘top 3’ of the time trial was completed by the Belgian Remco Evenepoel, from Quick-Step, who reached 11 seconds, and the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, from the UAE Emirates, who finished his run 18 seconds behind Ganna’s time.
Colombian Miguel Ángel López, from Astana, was in thirteenth place, 42 seconds behind. He was the best Latin American of the stage.
Rigoberto Urán, from EF, was in box 43, 1 minute and three seconds behind Ganna.
Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz was 20.
Ganna, the king in the time trial of ‘the two seas’
This Tuesday, the second stage of the ‘Race of the two seas’ will take the peloton from Camaiore to Sovicille, with a 219 km route. It will be the longest day of this edition.
