The sports journalist Chema Abad has died this Friday at the age of 65 after failing to overcome the stroke he suffered and for which he had been hospitalized in Madrid since September, as reported by RTVE.
The communicator developed his career at RNE, a station to which he was linked for 43 years until September 2001, when he retired as presenter of ‘Radiogaceta de los deportes’, the oldest sports program on Spanish radio. In public, he was also the director and presenter of ‘Tablero deportivo’, from 2008 to 2013.

Abad graduated in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid and began his career at Antena 3, although he later moved to Radiocadena Española, where he was head of Sports, a position he repeated on Radio 5 and twice on Radio Nacional.
