The 4X fantasy Songs of Conquest did well in terms of sales. What many consider the spiritual successor to the Heroes of Might and Magic III series has reached a major milestone one week after the launch of version 1.0: it has sold more than 500,000 copies. Lavapotion, the development studio, has already planned the future of the game thanks to this success.
The news was published on Steam, on the game’s blog, where the first data from the project was shared. Consider that copies take into account not only sales at launch, but sales throughout period spent by the game in Early Access. So from May 2022 until the last few days.
A rosy future
“From the bottom of our hearts here at Lavapotion, thank you so much for believing in us and supporting our game, the reception of Songs of Conquest has completely amazed us,” said lead game designer Carl Toftfelt. “Thank you for making our dream come true.”
Songs of Conquest currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 87% positive reviews out of nearly 7,000. Most of the reviews were written during the Early Access period, so it can be assumed that the game generated the majority of its sales before the launch of version 1.0. Naturally there is no confirmation on this matter, so take it as our supposition, based however on empirical facts.
In the meantime, Lavapotion will continue development of the game. They are expected in the immediate future two paid DLCs, which are expected to be released later this year. The first major expansion, Bleak East, is expected to release in 2025, along with two new factions and other features. If you want more information, read our review of Songs of Conquest.
