Nina Pachulky, 27, was found dead in her apartment on Saturday. Police were called to her Wisconsin apartment at 11 a.m. after worried friends called 911 to tell them she was threatening to kill herself.
The death of the American anchor comes just six weeks before her marriage to her fiancé, Kyle Haas, who is a divorced father of two children 11 years older than her.
Although they lived together in the same house, Haas, 38, was not home at the time of his death.
“I know she’s no longer in pain and I’m grateful for that. Nina, I love you more than you can fathom. You were my best friend and my whole world. I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you,” Haas wrote in a touching Facebook post.
In addition to her successful career in the media, Nina was an exemplary young woman, star of the high school basketball team, as well as a valedictorian.
And Nina’s close friend, Ali Peters, revealed that Nina was suffering from “severe depression”, despite her happiness in the workplace and with her fiancé.
Peters told the Daily Mail that Nina’s internal struggles with her mental health had gotten significantly worse in the past few months but she “never thought” she would commit suicide.
“She seemed to me to have gone through a lot and seemed happy for the most part,” she said.
The authorities have not yet revealed how Nina committed suicide.
