German Jurgen Klopp, coach of the English team Liverpool, defended his Uruguayan striker, Darwin Nunez, after mounting speculation about his future. The British news agency (BA Media) reported that after the team’s victory over Tottenham 4-2, the Uruguayan international striker deleted all… His photos with Liverpool from his official account on the photo-sharing platform “Instagram”.
This led to increasing speculation about the 24-year-old striker, who has spent two different seasons with Liverpool since joining them from Benfica of Portugal. But Klopp expressed his confidence that the striker, who scored 33 goals in 94 matches, has not yet shown his full potential with the team.
Klopp said: “I don’t know anything about that. There is no speculation at the moment. It is just the situation we are in.” He added: “Darwin is not happy about wasting that opportunity. He is unlucky, let me say that. He was like that in many situations where he was doing everything right but the ball did not hit the net.”
Klopp continued: “This is difficult for a young player. He has high expectations about what he can do. There is no alternative but to move forward, which is what he is doing now.” He explained: “We are trying to help him with everything we can, but you have to get out of that. Everyone has to do that. This is part of a footballer’s career.”
