The inclusion of the Cremona round on the calendar had sparked quite a bit of controversy and doubts among professionals and Superbike enthusiasts. However, the track, which will debut in the world championship this September, has implemented and completed a series of works to be able to host the second Italian event in maximum safety.
The works included various improvements to make the track usable for the world championship and also more enjoyable for the spectators: among these, the focus was on changes to the layout, in particular at turns 11, 12 and 13. In this way, the track it was extended by approximately 90 meters in length, and then resurfaced. The grandstands have also been expanded, with new ones being built which will allow fans to flock to the racetrack. Even the professionals benefit from the works, because the Race Direction offices have been modernized to be able to better manage the event.
The racetrack announced today the completion of the works, which began in January 2024, and which also saw the introduction of a new entrance for vehicles, in order to also facilitate traffic. In September, therefore, Cremona will have the capacity for approximately 20,000 spectators, with the track measuring 3,768 metres. In addition to the works, a new logo was also announced, designed and revised for the World Superbike round.
Alessandro Canevarolo, CEO of the Cremona Autodrome, declared: “We are thrilled to present this new logo to the world, which distinguishes us for our closeness to people, to the territory, to motorcycle and motorsport enthusiasts. We chose as inspiration one of the most iconic curves on the circuit, turn 10, which launches us onto the long adrenaline-filled straight, graphically applying all the characteristics that our motorcyclists know to the logo. The colours: red and dark grey, in themselves represent the passion and territory of Cremona. The track was inaugurated at the beginning of April and many enthusiasts have already been able to appreciate the gradients and the new layout of the last section of the track.”
