The Chief Executive will not change his pace of visits to the Senate despite the arrival of the Galician leader
The PSOE assures that it does not fear Alberto Núñez Feijóo as a rival, but Pedro Sánchez does not intend to measure himself against him beyond what is strictly necessary in the parliamentary sphere. The government spokeswoman, Isabel Rodríguez, made it clear this Monday that the chief executive will not increase the frequency of his attendance at the control session in the Senate in order to be able to debate face to face with the opposition leader, now that he already has a seat . “Nothing has changed. He continues to be the leader of the opposition and, therefore, with the uses and customs of the Chamber », she asserted in an interview on TVE.
The Socialists have no intention of helping Feijóo to have more prominence and, even, they make him ugly that sometimes “he believes that he is still president of the Xunta”. In Ferraz they assure that the president faces his first parliamentary duel with the leader of the popular ones with the desire that these debates be “something new”. However, they regret that, at the moment, the Galician “looks too much like” his predecessor Pablo Casado. They also reproach him for the “lack of rigor” with which last week he assessed the unemployment data, accusing the Ministry of Yolanda Díaz of falsifying them. They “make up”, said Feijóo, because what was previously a temporary contract is now a discontinuous permanent one and “it does not count towards unemployment”. “He is still installed in the tension, disloyalty and lies”, censored in the leadership of the PSOE.
Sánchez has ordered his people to put the accent on the economic achievements and the social conquests of the Government to try to gain momentum and stop the wear and tear that the polls warn about. Especially in Andalusia, where all the polls point to an unassailable victory for the PP. “We are specialists in overcoming the polls,” said Deputy Secretary General Adriana Lastra.
The socialist leader gave as an example when all the polls gave an absolute majority to Javier Arenas and the PSOE ended up ruling the Board. Although in Ferraz they recognize that the center-right electorate is “hypermobilized”, they trust that the campaign, which started on Friday, will end up waking up the sleepers. They point out that their electorate is mobilized especially in the last week, while the voter on the right of the board has been since the beginning of the contest.
